Exit the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica and walk for about 600 meters till you reach the Alto dos Moinhos metro station. Take the metro on the Blue Line and get off at the Jardim Zoológico station which is around 50 meters away from the Lisbon Zoo.

You can hop on to a bus from the R. Soeiros bus stop, Estr. Luz / R. Soeiros bus stop, or B. S. João bus stop. R. Soeiros is the closest bus stop to the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Bus numbers 701, 716, 726, 731, 746, 754, 755, 758, 768, 770, 771, and 55B will drop you at the Sete Rios bus stop which is around 100 meters from the Lisbon Zoo.

Get down at the Sete Rios train station to reach the Lisbon Zoo by train. However, it's recommended to opt for the train if you are arriving from outside Lisbon; the metro provides a more convenient transportation choice for those already within the city.

Distance: 2.4 kilometers

  • Get on Av. Machado Santos after exiting Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Now, drive for around 250 meters. 
  • Stay on the left lane at Rotunda Cosme Damião, and drive for about 70 meters before turning left onto Av. Lusíada. 
  • Drive on Av. Lusíada for about 2.2 kilometres and then take the ramp to Campolide before merging with IP7.
  •  Take the exit toward Sete Rios and continue driving till you reach Av. das Forças Armadas. 
  • Continue driving for 200 meters, till you reach the zoo’s main entrance.

Walking to Lisbon Zoo

Best for: Fitness-conscious visitors, sight-seeing, getting familiar with the neighbourhood

Distance: 2.4 kilometers

  • It is a 30-minute walk from the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica to the Lisbon Zoo. 
  • You will walk past the Convent São Domingos, a Catholic church located on R. Ernâni Lopes. 
  • Walk for 500 meters and turn right onto Estrada da Luz. There are a few restaurants in this area that specialise in authentic Brazilian-Portuguese and Indian food including Tempero Brasileiro Lisboa and NUR By Zaafran.
  • Continue walking on Estrada das Laranjeiras for about 400 meters and then turn right toward Praça Marechal Humberto Delgado.
  • Walk for about 100 meters till you see the zoo’s main entrance on your right.
